The Band 5 Community Staff Nurse Role is based in South Derbyshire, working with the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse.
You will need to be forward thinking, dynamic, caring and wanting to develop in a public health career.

Main duties of the job
As a community staff nurse in the school nursing team, you will work within a 5-19 team under the supervision of a School Nurse Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner (SCPHN) and alongside other Community Staff Nurses.
As a community staff nurse you will work within a multi-disciplinary setting, supporting the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19, to meet the prioritised health needs of school age children/young people and families, using evidence based practice contained with the standard operating procedures.
As a community staff nurse you will carry responsibility for the assessment of health needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of intervention for a defined caseload and to act as the 'named nurse' for an identified group of schools within the locality that you work.
Provide targeted interventions for children and young people who meet the referral criteria with emerging needs.
To utilise a variety of different communication methods including face to face and social media to maximise the reach of key public health messages.

Education, Qualifications and Training

- First level registered Nurse/Children's Nurse
- NMC registration
- Recent evidence of CPD

- Recognised teaching and assessing qualification
- Public health qualification or experience
Experience and Knowledge Required

- Understanding and awareness of the public health high impact areas and agenda
- Experience of working with children/ young people on health related issues.
- Knowledge of safeguarding children's procedures.
