We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, dynamic and driven individual to join our theatre team. We are looking for the right applicant for the Band 6 Scrub vacancy who is passionate and committed to the delivery of high standards of patient care.
The Claremont Theatres comprise of a total of ten Theatres mainly specialising in Ophthalmology which cover Cataract surgery, Vitreoretinal, Corneal & Oculoplastic and also Paediatric Ophthalmology surgery twice weekly. The Theatres also include a dedicated Maxillo Facial Theatre and a Paediatric Max Fax Theatre which runs once a month.
You will predominantly be based in the Claremont Wing Theatres but will expected to join the multidisciplinary team out of hours which will include late shifts, night duty and weekend working. This will involve working within various other specialities including Neuro, Orthopaedics & Trauma, General Surgery & Gynae

Main duties of the job
Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse/Senior ODP, responsible for the smooth running of the Claremont Wing Ophthalmology & Maxillo Facial theatres.
Responsibilities will include:-
- Act as scrub/circulating team leader to ensure the safe running of Theatres for our patients
- Take charge in the absence of the Band 7 Senior Sister
- Daily management of Allocate staff rostering, clinical supervision, Datix investigation etc.
- Annual appraisals
- Provide effective support and leadership to both staff, patients and carers within the Theatre or Department.
- Act as role model, teacher and supervisor for junior staff and students.
- Ensure systems are in place to provide the continuity of safe effective care for patients at all times.
- Member of the multidisciplinary team to suit the needs of the service out of hours i.e late shifts, night duty and weekends
- Ensure and uphold high standards within the operating Theatres, trust policies and procedures are adhered to.
