The Radiology Department seeks enthusiastic radiographers, qualified or soon to qualify, who are keen to develop their careers within a supportive environment. We offer a 6 month preceptorship scheme for newly qualified radiographers.
The Radiology service at CDDFT provides a wide range of modalities and opportunities to develop your clinical skills and knowledge. We offer the opportunity to become proficient in Fluoroscopy and Cath Labs as well as rotation through CT and MRI.
We have heavily invested in Radiology equipment across the trust with the latest install of MRI, CT and DR rooms.
We offer a fast paced primary imaging service to a busy Emergency Department as well as to local GPs, wards and out-patients. We perform a high number of imaging examinations in our innovative new theatres, including trauma, elective surgery and urology as well as interventional work in fluoroscopy and CT.
You will take part in a shift rota covering this service delivering care to our local population 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an integral part of the Radiology team, working closely with the Senior Radiographers, Radiographers, Radiology students and other associated Radiology staff.
The staff member maybe responsible for the continuing development of other Radiology personnel & or student Radiographers.
To adhere to good practices of Radiographic technique and abide by the acknowledged safe practices of radiation protection standards.
To provide high quality radiographic images that may assist in patient diagnosis & or management of care.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities
To carry out clinical duties to a high professional standard and maintain high standards of imaging and patient care at all times.
To adhere to good practices of Radiation protection standards (IRMER).
Actively promote a service that is responsive to the patients needs.
Promote teamwork to provide a high quality service.
Take part in general, mobile, fluoroscopy, dental, ward & theatre radiography.
To ascertain the validity of requests and prioritise workload in own area.
To be competent in the use of CRIS /PACS
To report equipment malfunctions to a more Senior radiographer
To assist junior staff /student radiographers in training to a level of competency where they are able to carry out most work procedures single handed.
Maintain awareness of current trends & developments in all aspects of general radiography & actively participate in a CPD programme.
Ensure that all incidents and complaints are recorded and dealt (reported to a more senior Radiographer) within accordance of Trust policy.
To participate in the Clinical governance activities within the Radiology Directorate.
Undertake night and extended working day duties,
Optional participation in the Red dot scheme highlighting abnormalities to the AE department.
To rotate through the CT department if required.
To carry out any other duties that may be assigned by a more senior Radiographer.
