A unique opportunity has arisen for a CAMHS practitioner working across Haringey Child and Adolescent Services (CAMHS) and Children with Disabilities Team (CWDT), to transform the way services to children with emotional and mental health difficulties are assessed and supported into adulthood.

Haringey Council's Disabled Children Team provides support for children and young people who have a permanent and substantial disability, and their families. A team of qualified social workers supports families by ensuring that the children and young people's needs are assessed and appropriate services and intervention provided.

The Disabled Children's team provides advice and assistance to families with children who have severe and complex disabilities.

The team aims to ensure that these children and young people are:

• safe and protected from neglect and abuse
• secure within their families or in alternative family settings if they are children who are looked after
• supported to achieve their full potential
• supported in the move to adulthood and to transfer to Adult Services if appropriate

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical work consisting of highly specialist assessment and treatment in addition to advice, consultation and psychoeducation to colleagues across the team and other agencies as well as non-professional carers in a client's network. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the governance of clinical practice within the service/team. To utilise skills for audit, policy, service development and research. In addition to the delivery of clinical assessments and interventions the post holder will be required to co-ordinate patient care and manage clinical risks.

Haringey is one of three borough-based CAMHS services in Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health (BEH) Trust and a CYP-IAPT site. We are keen to recruit a Family & Systemic Psychotherapist with energy and commitment to contribute to these developments.

You will be offered regular clinical supervision and management support. You will join the regular Family Therapy discipline meeting and there are opportunities to participate in Trust wide Systemic forums and CPD. The Trust will support flexible working hours where appropriate.

Person Specification TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS Essential

• Professional training in a recognised core profession and registration with the HCPC, NMC or equivalent agency.

EXPERIENCE Essential

• Experience of specialist assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient
• Experience of work in a multidisciplinary team and in multi-agency contexts.
• Experience of working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum conditions using approaches to behaviour such as functional analysis or PBS.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
• Experience of working with children in need and those in need of protection.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Essential

• Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
• Evidence of continuing professional development as required for professional registration.
• Ability to undertake clinical risk assessment and to work within safeguarding procedures
• Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
• Ability to manage own caseload and time.
• Skills in using IT, including office applications, clinical record systems (e.g. RiO) and database/statistical applications e.g. Excel, SPSS)

OTHER Essential

• Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.
• Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
