This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse to develop advanced nursing skills in the management of patients with infection. Working with the multidisciplinary team you will play a key role in contributing to this high quality patient centred service including organisation and participation at weekly MDT meetings and outpatient clinics.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have previous post registration clinical experience in the care of patients with Infection/OPAT/Sepsis. Applicants should possess excellent literacy, communication, organisational and leadership skills and should be prepared to work within a flexible working environment. The ENB 998/or Equivalent and basic IT skills are required.

As part of the Infection Nursing Team you will be supported and given the opportunity to develop your patient examination and diagnostic skills, as well as utilising prescribing skills.

Your role will adopt a strategic approach to patient care, supporting colleagues, resulting in interventions which aim to pre-empt potential problems for patients, and their carers. A significant strength of the role will be the development of skills to cross professional boundaries in both primary and secondary care with the confidence and competence to work autonomously, utilising a wide degree of clinical assessment and clinical decision making skills.

Across site working will be on rotation

Job responsibilities

The role of the CNS contains a number of key tasks and responsibilities.

To enable the post holder to undertake their role and deliver patient care it is acknowledged and supported that the main element of the role will be contributing to clinical care.

Support to Band 6 CNSs within team

A vehicle / framework to achieve this will be the use of a job plan and this will be discussed with the post holder at Induction.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Practising 1ST level Registered nurse currently registered with NMC
  • Evidence of professional development
  • Relevant post-registration teaching qualification
  • NMC qualification as Nurse Prescriber
  • Clinical examination/Clinical diagnostic


Desirable

  • Infection control qualification e.g ENB 329


Experience

Essential

  • Previous post registration experience
  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant CNS role
  • Experience leading and undertaking audits
  • Teaching experience in formal and informal settings
  • Computer literate able to use microsoft word
  • Management experience


Desirable

  • Experience in policy and guideline development
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Access
