Are you an experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse looking to take a new step in your career? This is an exciting opportunity to join the Acute Diabetes Team as a Senior Diabetes Specialist Nurse

Main duties of the job

This will be a permanent role within the Acute Diabetes Team for an experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse to assess, develop and implement programmes of care providing highly specialised advice on specialist diabetes care.

Practise in compliance with your respective code of professional conduct and within your scope of practice. Being responsible and accountable for decisions, actions, and omissions at this level of practice.

The post holder will work in line with The TREND Integrated Care and Competency Framework for Adult Diabetes Nursing to Senior Practitioner or Expert Nurse level.

Liaise with non-specialist teams in the development of management plans for patients with complex diabetes related problems including recurring hyperglycaemia, hypoglycaemia fear or unawareness, renal disease, partial sight, diabetic foot disease, preconception planning and pregnancy.

Provide the diabetes service within outpatient and inpatient settings within speciality areas.

Lead specialist for defined caseload.Non-medical prescriber practicing within the Prescribing Competency Framework.Line management and mentor Band 6 DSNsSupport strategic development and operational delivery of care Works independently and as part of MDT within inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Relevant accredited registration qualification.
  • Independent Medical Prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Demonstrable certificate of qualification relevant to the post.e.g DAFNE trained or equivalent or willingness to undertake


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in a relevant subject
  • Proven experience as Band 6 DSN
  • Experience of triaging and assessing patients in pressured situations
