CLCH is looking to recruit a highly motivated experienced registered children's nurse interested in undertaking the Pg. Dip Specialist Community Nursing with Integrated Prescribing Community Practitioner (Children's Nursing) qualification starting in September 2024.

This is a fully funded and salaried training place. You will be given a fixed term contract with CLCH to undertake a one year full-time course.

The student will be supported by a Community Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisors based in the Children's Community Nursing Team. This course is jointly undertaken with Hertfordshire University.

Candidates will require the following skills/knowledge:
  • Current NMC Registration for nursing (Child Branch)
  • DipHE (or above) qualification equivalent to 120 credits at level 5 (of the Higher Education Credit Framework for England) or evidence of previous education and training to this level.
  • Note some Universities will accept 60 credits at level 5/6 and offer candidates the option to APEL (accreditation of prior experiential learning)
  • Post registration study / learning over the past two years.
  • Recent experience of working as a registered children's nurse in a community nursing role

Main duties:

The fundamental responsibilities of the post holder are to attain the academic credentials and the clinical skills required to practice as a NMC registered Specialist Community Practitioner in Children's Community Nursing.

Evaluate the current organisational and professional agendas that influence care delivery in primary healthcare and community settings.

Education/Qualification

Essential

  • Current NMC Registration for children's nursing
  • DipHE (or above) qualification equivalent to 120 credits at level 5 (of the Higher Education Credit Framework for England) 2 or evidence of previous education and learning to this level. 3
  • Evidence of post registration study / learning over the past two years.


Desirable

  • Evidence of continual professional development at level 6


Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience of at least 1 year of working as a registered children's nurse in a community nursing role
  • Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Evidence of involvement in the management of difficult situations and conflict resolution
  • Teaching in the practice situation
  • Evidence of working without direct supervision and managing own workload


Desirable

  • Teaching in the practice situation

Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to support people to make informed decisions in relation to their health and well-being.
