To act as an advanced physiotherapy clinical practitioner within the Trauma Outpatient Consultant Clinics for fracture using advanced clinical reasoning skills to diagnose and treat acute traumatic MSK injuries.

They will use advanced clinical decision making and expertise to guide and support treatment pathways ensuring the delivery of a clear pathway and rehabilitation plans.

Main duties of the job

1. To work clinically under the supervision of a consultant trauma surgeon reviewing, planning and instigating treatment.

2. To undertake as an advanced autonomous practitioner, comprehensive assessments of highly complex patients presenting with multiple pathologies, using advanced bio psychosocial clinical reasoning skills, expert knowledge of evidence based practice, and advanced rehabilitation expertise to interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts, which may include very personal, emotive or contentious information. Demonstrate critical awareness of knowledge in the field and at the interface between different specialities.

3. To manage patients referred to the fracture clinic / ED Minors for initial contact, assessment, clinical diagnosis and management this will include onward referral for diagnostics, further rehabilitation and issuing Fit Notes.

  • To manage patients referred to the fracture clinic / ED Minors for initial contact, assessment, clinical diagnosis and management this will include onward referral for diagnostics, further rehabilitation and issuing Fit Notes.
  • To undertake independent prescribing following parameters of training and registration.
  • Actively participate in the provision of education for the wider MDT, attending in-service training and development to ensure continuous personal and professional development.

    essential experience and qualifications

    Essential

    • Qualified and HCPC registered physiotherapist
    • minimum 5 years msk experience
    • Msc or working towards / equivelent


    Desirable

    • NHS Experience
    • Experience of working in out-patient clinic environment
    • Quality Improvement / audit experience
    • Research experience
