We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with relevant experience in Mental Health to join the Southern Health Perinatal Service.
The Perinatal Community Team provides a specialist community service for the assessment and treatment of women with severe mental health problems in pregnancy and up to 2 years postnatal.
We have the expertise to be able to predict and prevent postnatal illness for pregnant women who have a history of significant mental illness. The team also provides advice and information for women with a less severe mental illness in the perinatal period to primary care providers.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a motivated Duty Team Leader with an interest in the field of Perinatal Mental Health. The right applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Duty Team within the busy Perinatal Community Team, which encompasses Brief Intervention, Rapid Response, and the overall duty function. The Duty Team Leader will be supporting the development of this pathway and be responsible for ensuring the team are working efficiently and providing the highest standards of care. You will be supporting and guiding the nursing team with their work and striving to improve service delivery and access rates.
The Rapid Response function reviews referrals from all health professionals, and if found that there are present red flags, which indicate high-risk or evidence of psychosis and other distress, then a nurse will contact the person within two working days to assess if a person requires an assessment at home. It is also at this time that other support can be considered, medication advice, referral for admission etc. However, it may be that contact is made and the crisis has passed, to which the pathway options should be followed.
The team base is at Melbury Lodge which is located in Winchester, however the service covers the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Therefore the duty function also covers all areas of the Isle of Wight and Hampshire.
Car Driver is essential.
