Ancora CARE is the Tier 4 service for Bed Based and non Bed Based care, the three main functions are access assessments, admission avoidance and facilitating timely discharge, delivering interventions in the community. Operating 7 days a week, between the hours of 9am and 9pm. Ancora CARE operates 364 days a year (Christmas Day the inpatient team assumes gatekeeping role).

Ancora CARE delivers a high quality evidence based assessment and outreach service to the young people between the ages of 13-18 years old across Cheshire and Merseyside. The team is an MDT composed of nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, family therapy and psychiatry.

The team is committed to delivering the right high quality care to our young people at the right time in the right place. The team is committed to ongoing training and development to ensure we are offering the best evidence based interventions to meet a young person's needs, informing quality person centred care planning and improving health outcomes for the young person.

Main duties of the job

Ancora CARE is a team dedicated to providing comprehensive and timely assessments as well as brief interventions to young people with complex mental health needs referred for specialist and intensive support within Tier 4 CAMHS.

The role involves assessing young people who are presenting in a mental health crisis at risk of hospital admission. This includes liaising with other services, arranging appropriate care, supporting young people intensively at home and effectively facilitating transfer back to community services. The work is varied and sometimes intense, but always rewarding and well-supported.

We are offering an opportunity for a mental health worker to join the team who has passion and enthusiasm to develop and to work in partnership with other senior clinicians and Team Manager, delivering high quality care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recently qualified in a core profession (Social Care, Nursing, Allied Health Professional, Teaching and Clinical Psychologists) OR recognised degree level broad based health & social care qualification which will require completion of The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Knowledge Skills and Attributes
  • KSA Accreditation profiles OR Qualified CYWP (Post Graduate Certificate or above from a provider university as part of the CYP-IAPT programme
  • Professional registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, BACP, BABCP BASW, TRA)
  • Relevant post graduate diploma or equivalent evidence of ongoing post registration development - (courses must be nationally recognised)


Desirable

  • Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree.


Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Knowledge of child psychology and development
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present
  • Demonstrate an understanding of parenting and behaviour management interventions
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding school and education and the impact it can have on mental health
  • Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation


Desirable

  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post

  • Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people
