A development opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual with a passion for supporting and developing nurses within our AAU and Emergency department.

The post holder will be fully supported by the band 7 Clinical Practice Educator and Matron all of whom are responsible for leading the nursing Teams across AAU and the Emergency department.

We also offer training and support for the successful candidate with options of attending personal development courses such as Masters Programmes and Teaching qualifications.

We pride ourselves in providing education and training to all staff which will be an integral part of this role.

The post holder will be expected to work clinically as part of the role and therefore must have experience of working in an acute setting. Please see person specification for further details of required experience and qualifications prior to applying

Main duties of the job

The CPE's main nursing duties include but are not inclusive to:
  • Facilitating training days for the nursing team and student nurses.
  • Facilitating 3 month and 6 month probationary reviews.
  • Able to present and teach.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Work alongside nursing staff and students to provide direct clinical based teaching.
  • Develop, implement and deliver competency-based clinical education.
  • Work with clinical teams to ensure Students are exposed to a wide range of learning opportunities.
  • Further develop own competence and ability to teach a wider range of skills as required in order to disseminate best practice.
  • Support staff with student interviews and assessments.
  • Organise student rota's and allocation of mentors.
  • Review and update clinical competencies in line with best practice.
  • Ensure mandatory training is up to date within the department.
  • Support new starters.

Self-rostering is available for you to allocate your own working days and we are always willing to consider flexible working in order to maintain a healthy work life balance. The post holder would be required to work a Monday-Friday shift pattern.

Job responsibilities

The clinical practice facilitator will work collaboratively with the senior AAU/ED team to:-Deliver effective, high quality, safe patient centred care. She/he will lead the continuing Education, training and professional development for the nursing staff to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge. She/he will develop and drive forward an education programme to ensure that nursing staff acquire the professional standards and competencies when caring for people.The clinical practice facilitator will:Ensure that mandatory training requirements are fulfilled and that staff education and development is aligned to staff appraisal and corporate, divisional, Department and service development needs.Providing education and knowledge to ensure that learning and teaching in clinical practice promotes and supports the Clinical Governance agenda, Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and the Trusts Nursing Strategy.Work alongside nurses and students of all grades within AAU/Emergency Department to facilitate their development and critical thinking skills.Providing support and guidance to organise and support the development of the nursing team.

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential

  • 1 st level Registered Nurse
  • Recognised Emergency Care course
  • Hold a professional registration Teaching and Assessing Qualification and /or Mentorship Qualification
  • Evidence of relevant ongoing professional development. Diploma or equivalent
  • Degree in related subject or willingness to work towards


Desirable

  • ALS/PILS/ATNC


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of both professional and personal development
  • Substantive experience at band 5 and above working in an - Emergency Department
  • Substantial experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experienced in change management and Quality improvement
  • Able to assess practice and give constructive feedback


Desirable

  • Experience working with Children and young adults

  • Demonstrate s a current and in -depth knowledge of specialist area of practice
