  • To assist the nurse in charge in maintaining standards, and in the management, development and education of staff nurses, support workers and other team members.
  • To take charge of an area of the department i.e. triage, ensuring safe, effective, timely care is delivered. You will be expected to oversee and coordinate an area within the department, providing support, leadership and clinical expertise to other members of the team whilst following the appropriate escalation.
  • To maintain and uphold standards of care in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, and to provide specialised programmes of nursing care to a diverse range of patients in UECC.
  • Act as an advocate for patients.
  • Nursing care of children aged 0-18 requiring general acute and critical care in the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre.
  • To have a good understanding of the Trusts safeguarding policy and know the process for SystmOne and CPIS checks


Main duties of the job

Establish and maintain effective communication with various individuals and groups on complex potentially stressful topics in a range of situations.

9. Lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice

10. Assist with research and development

11.To manage an unpredictable and rapidly changing clinical environment (with constantly changing priorities, and no upper limit on client numbers) i.e. cardiac arrest, fire safety

  • Recruitment and selection experience

  • Demonstrates knowledge of policies, practices and procedures e.g. NHS national policies, standards, requirements and directions that relate to patient care


Qualifications

Essential

  • Current level one NMC registration Registered Childrens Nurse
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Substantial appropriate post registration experience


Desirable

  • Mentorship qualification (or willingness to work towards)
  • -Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS)
  • -European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPLS)
  • -Level 1 Trauma Training
  • -Level 2 Trauma Training
