This is an exciting opportunity to support the podiatry senior leadership team to lead and develop the Podiatry department to deliver services within a community and acute sites. The successful candidate will work alongside an established leadership team which consists of Head of Podiatry, Community Team Leads and Diabetic Foot Service clinical lead.

The North Cumbria Podiatry Department have received an outstanding achievement through the We Care Audit and we have been award 'Best team supporting learning' and 'Best learning opportunities' with the trust.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills, alongside a good sense of humour and team focused.

The Department has a good skill mix including advanced and specialist Podiatrists, Podiatry assistants and administrative staff. Currently we maintain high risk, biomechanics and nail surgery caseloads. As a specialist podiatrist you will triage and treat a variety of podiatric problems and provide foot health education to patients and other stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

To support the Head of Podiatry to lead the Podiatry team, clinically, managerially and professionally, delivering a service within a community setting.

To be responsible for own continued professional development andfacilitate a learning culture which includes audit and research to ensure high standards of care within the speciality teams.

To support the Head of Podiatry in ensuring that professional standards are set, implemented, monitored and maintained. This includes bank staff and honorary contracts.

To be a member of the AHP senior management team, working with the Head of Podiatry on operational and service development issues, with specific responsibility for own area of speciality

To be responsible for clinical governance within the Podiatry staff group.

To have adequate time at operational base with Podiatry leads to ensure wellbeing.

To be an active member of the appropriate MDTs.

Standard Check: �18 + Administration cost of �3.85 = �21.85. Deducted at �6.85 from 1st month salary and �5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: �38 + administration cost of �3.90 = �41.90. Deducted at �11.90 from 1st month salary and �10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification



  • Degree Podiatry / Podiatric medicine or equivalent.
  • Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of CPD and or working toward a relevant post-graduate course equivalent to Masters level.


  • Involvement in a relevant Clinical Special Interest Group.
  • Management or leadership qualification.



  • Confident, highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Team player but able to work independently and on own initiative without direct supervision.
  • Able to manage difficult situations including team conflict.
  • Leadership qualities.
