Band 6 MSK (Women's & Men's Health) Physiotherapist.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Women's and Men's Health team at Southend Hospital. We are currently seeking a part time band 6 Physiotherapist to join our small friendly team to work within this outpatient service.

You will be managing your own interesting and varied caseload providing the assessment of patients with diverse presentations including peri-natal, gynaecology, urology and colorectal referrals in an outpatient setting. You must be able to work autonomously and manage their time efficiently, as well as supporting assistant staff.

You will be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and hold a Degree in physiotherapy. You would ideally have previous experience working with a pelvic health caseload.

Main duties of the job

We deliver a wide range of pelvic health services, including continence assessment and management, pelvic pain management and ante & post-natal MSK assessment and management. This post is ideal for those wanting to expand their pelvic health practice in a supportive environment with the support of our highly skilled service lead and the wider MSK Outpatient Team.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be interested in personal and service development. You will be expected to maintain a clinical caseload and provide supervision to junior members of staff and students. You will be actively participating in clinical teaching and in-service training sessions, whilst delivering a high standard of patient-centred clinical care.

Job responsibilities

The post creates a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to join our busy outpatient physiotherapy department, assessing and treating patients with a wide range of womens and mens health presentations. Patients may be referred to the service from their General Practitioners or a variety of members of the multidisciplinary team. They may have been assessed and triaged from our telephone assessment service or through our clinical assessment and triage service (CATS).

The Outpatient Physiotherapy team have a strong commitment to ongoing CPD in order to develop individuals both clinically and non-clinically to strengthen opportunities for future career development, providing regular accountability / supervision and monthly in-service training.

Person Specification



  • oMember of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • oRegistered with Health Professional Council
  • oDegree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • oRelevant CPD


  • oInvolvement in Special Interest Groups.



  • Previous women's & mens health experience as a junior or senior.
  • Working knowledge of broad range of pelvic health conditions.
  • Experience of audit and research


  • Clinical Educators course.
  • Supervision of junior staff or students



  • Good communication skills
  • Able to organise, delegate and prioritise
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Evidence of presentation skills
