We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated CCAB Qualified Accountant to join finance. The post holder will be a senior member of the Financial Accounts team, demonstrating expert accounting knowledge, analytical support and clear presentation of highly complex or contentious financial and business information to other finance colleagues.Managing a small team of financial accountants, the post holder will deliver accurate and timely monthly reconciliation of all control accounts which feed into the Trust's position for internal and external corporate reporting. There will be also be a requirement to support external NHS financial services clients.

Person Specification



  • oCCAB Qualified
  • oEducation to degree level
  • oIT Literate - Spreadsheets, database, pivot tables, ECDL or equivalent



  • oFive years of working in a financial environment with at least 3 years of financial and capital accounts experience in an NHS environment
  • oExperience of working with spreadsheets, word, databases, working with large complex data volumes on spreadsheets
  • oManaging staff and effective team working
  • oExperience of reporting on PFI schemes and Finance Leases in an NHS environment


  • Advanced knowledge of NHS Accounting Policies and procedures as recognised with UK IFRS



  • oKnowledge of NHS funding and regulation (NHSE, ICB, Local Authority).
  • oKnowledge of financial coding and ledger and sub-ledger management
  • oKnowledge of financial controls and experience of maintaining these
  • oUp to date knowledge of NHS, organisational challenges and development



  • oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff at all levels
  • oBusiness acumen and the ability to influence and manage commercial opportunities
  • oAbility to communicate sensitive information to multi-task, re-assessing priorities to ensure projects are managed and completed to timescales.
