We are looking for a Band 5 anaesthetic practitioner to come and work in South Theatres and the new surgical hub.

This post is integral to the effectiveness of South Theatres new surgical hub and provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to play a fundamental role in the development of Elective and Emergency surgery at the Ipswich Hospital.

We offer many development opportunities for further education. We offer degree/ master models that support your development within the theatre environment and help you grow as a theatre practitioner.

South Theatres new surgical hub provides both Elective and Emergency surgery. The department provides 24 hour cover for Emergency Surgery and has 8 operating theatres, which consists of a dedicated Emergency and urgent surgery Theatre, and 6 Elective Theatres.

The department covers a range of specialties ranging from General surgery, Colo-rectal, Urology, ENT, Oral, Plastic, Breast and Vascular, Robotic and laparoscopic surgery.

The role will provide potential for internal rotation with the opportunity of working in Theatres carry the emergency anaesthetic Bleep, and POCU.

The role will be working in both the new and existing theatres, for Ipswich hospital. This is an exciting opportunity with the newest innovation at the Trust being the introduction of robotic surgery using the Da Vinci Robot.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to develop truly patient cantered evidence based care through their clinical expertise and knowledge and be part of a team to deliver and maintain best practice.

Experience

Essential

  • Has experience of working within a team.
  • Evidence of Exposure to or understanding Relevant Clinical Experience

  • Previous relevant perioperative experience


Qualifications

  • ODP
  • Has undertaken Anaesthetic practice course be able to evidence achievement of recognised national standards
  • Evidence of continued professional Development Plans


Desirable

  • Dip HE (or working towards)
  • ILS Course


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understands the clinical role of a Nurse/ODP within the Perioperative team.


Desirable

  • Has evidence of professional portfolio development


Skills
