Due to the recognised contribution and expertise of the existing clinical pharmacy team, we have an exciting opportunity for a senior pharmacy technician to lead, co-ordinate and administer the technical aspects of our Integrated Medicines Management (IMM) service for the Pharmacy Directorate.

The role involves leading the large IMM technician team delivering our IMM service across a range of wards in the Trust. You will co-manage the Team along with other Senior Pharmacy Technician colleagues, to ensure a high-quality delivery of our IMM service which delivers care from admission, through any inpatient stay and beyond into primary care. As such, the role involves working closely with the IMM Pharmacist team to support the delivery of the IMM Service, effective team-management and service development and evaluation.

Main duties of the job

You will have evidence of effective service delivery at Band 5 level, and have a keen interest in managing the delivery of a high-quality, patient-centred service.

This Post is part of a five-day in seven-day rota with routine support of both junior pharmacists and medicines management technicians.

As part of this investment our nationally-recognised pharmacist-led Medicines Management Scheme has been expanded to all Acute areas.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience at Band 5 or equivalent.
  • Experience of management delivery, supervision and supporting staff and other technicians.
  • Experience of providing training and/or assessment.
  • Clinical or Service audit.


Desirable

  • Experience in dealing with patients.
  • Experience in counselling.


Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Pharmacy Level III with BTEC or equivalent underpinning knowledge.
  • Accredited Checking and Medicines Management accreditation at Band 5.


Desirable

  • Undertaken first level HR training.
  • Certified Business training or equivalent experience for Finance, planning,
  • development of procedures and other Business Administration.

  • Physically capable of doing the job.
