If you have answered yes, this could be the ideal job for you. You would work as a full time Band 7 EpilepsySpecialist nurse in the Worcestershire Integrated Neurology Team.

We are looking for a nurse experienced in the care of patients with epilepsy, who is motivated and passionate about deepening their knowledge, skills and management of these patients as well as supporting their families and carers.

The successful candidate will work as be part of a supportive multidisciplinary neurology team. You will ideally be a non-medical prescriber.

Main duties of the job

This role looks after individuals who have epilepsy and working closely with the support from the consultant neurologists as well as the 2 other specialist epilepsy nurses. There will be joint medical and nurse clinics as well as running nurse led clinics. The role will sit within the supportive structure of the Integrated Neurology service of specialist nurses and therapists as well as closely linking with other specialist teams as appropriate.

The successful candidate will:
  • independently provide education and information, advice, and support to patients in their own home and within clinics, as well as remotely via phonecalls or video conferencing.
  • be involved in referral triage for the neurology single point of access
  • be involved in service development in line with objectives from your annual review and service need
  • be involved in MDT meetings within our service and wider team meetings e.g., with Acute consultants
  • Supervise students

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Specialist knowledge in the management and care of epilepsy
  • Specialist knowledge in epilepsy medication regimes
  • Specialist knowledge of working with people with epilepsy


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in both clinic and domiciliary setting
  • Relevant Neurological experience in a position of responsibility Band 6, or above within the last 6 years


Desirable

  • Evidence of continuing professional development in the field of Epilepsy within the past two years, demonstrating an on-going commitment to the specialism


Additional criteria

Essential

  • Ability to meet the travel requirements of the role


Qualifications

Essential

  • RGN/RNLD
  • Degree
  • Clinical Masters qualification or a combination of qualifications and experience to an equivalent level in a relevant discipline
  • Independent non-medical prescriber (V300) OR commitment to commence V300 within 1 year of starting in post
  • Relevant further professional development particularly in relation to the patient group (neurology or learning disabilities)


Desirable

  • Professional Diploma in Epilepsy Care or equivalent experience
