An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Resuscitation Training Department for a 12-month secondment as project support for the adoption of the ReSPECT process at NUH.

The project will introduce the ReSPECT process at NUH for all adult patients. The role is ideal for an experience healthcare practitioner who has an existing knowledge of the ReSPECT process and has some experience in the field of education or training and prior involvement in project work.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide project support across the organisation, offering the opportunity to support with the delivery of a Trust-wide education strategy including involvement in the development of educational resources for staff members completing the plan and awareness training for all patient facing staff. You will also be involved in a wide-reaching communication strategy to raise the ReSPECT profile and will be a visible point of contact and a resource for staff members across the organisation.

The role includes collection of audit data to support the development of the project.

Person Specification



  • Demonstrate involvement in project work, supporting delivering and evaluating.
  • Demonstrate experience of teaching one to one and / or groups of diverse learners, through a variety of methods
  • Demonstrate experience of working in partnership with key stakeholders to support successful change implementation and education/training.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of ReSPECT principles and process
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Mental Capacity Assessment in particular its relevance to decisions about resuscitation


  • Experience of audits or research
  • Palliative care experience in end of life discussions, support and teaching
  • In depth knowledge of resuscitation principles including legal aspects
  • Demonstrate evidence of supporting change in clinical practice and awareness of the change process
  • Demonstrate evidence of providing formal teaching sessions.

Training and Qualifications


  • Current level one NMC or relevant AHP registration
  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing or Health related Studies
  • Have suitable Teaching and Assessing qualification or relevant experience
  • Trained in Service Improvement or has relevant experience
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and reflection


  • Formal leadership and management training
  • Research training/experience
  • Quality Service Improvement and Redesign (QSIR) methodology training or equivalent
  • Demonstrate evidence of supporting change in clinical practice and awareness of the change process

Communication and Relationship Skills


  • Able to present and receive complex information within the multi-professional team, in particular end of life or resuscitation decisions.
  • Demonstrate team working and the ability to work within a team
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate effective use of teaching aids and presentation skills.
  • Communicate effectively and confidently within a variety of forums.
  • Demonstrate skills of motivating others, negotiating and influencing.

  • Experience of providing positive feedback and sharing best practice and constructive feedback for development

Analytical and Judgement Skills


  • Insight into the use of data to influence patient care and services
  • Ability to collect, analyse, interpret and communicate data and identify area for action to improve project outcomes

  • Able to produce timely, accurate, written presentations, posters, records and reports
  • Evidence of working to agreed timescales and objectives within the project domain

Physical Skills / Other requirements


  • Keyboard skills
  • Able to set up and use IT equipment for teaching purposes
  • Must be able to move training equipment to relevant teaching areas
  • Able to work across both campuses.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy and use of IT skills e.g. email, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
