The successful candidate will be a Highly Specialist Clinical Cardiac Physiologist with specialist skills in Echocardiography to full BSE accreditation standard. The post will provide access to train or advance in 3D echocardiography, Dobutamine Stress Echo and other specialist echocardiography services.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the provision of a quality echo service at Princess Royal University Hospital and when required at King's College Hospital.

To promote smooth efficient running of the Cardiology Diagnostic Service

To provide teaching and support to other members of the department learning echocardiography and all other areas of Cardiology.

To work co-operatively and collaboratively with members of other professions and disciplines, ensuring the provision of a progressive learning environment for all staff.

To contribute to the professional leadership of the technical staff within the Non-Invasive Cardiac Department

To actively encourage and develop a multidisciplinary approach to Cardiac Care.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To carry out diagnostic echocardiography and report clinical echo studies independently and promptly, dependant on level of skills and knowledge.

To assist with the provision of stress, 3D, contrast, and transoesophageal echocardiography services, in accordance with level of skills already obtained.

To provide guidance and support junior staff during training, assessing and improving their echo/cardiology skills.

To assist the Consultant Clinical Scientist and Principal Echocardiographer in the leadership and management of the echocardiography/cardiology staff.

Person Specification

Knowledge an experience

Essential

  • Immediate Life Support certification
  • Specialist skills and interest in clinical echocardiography
  • Strong clear written and clear verbal communication skills


Desirable

  • Possession of full BSE accreditation
  • Some experience with contrast, stress echo,3D and TOE
