Welcome to Frimley Health where we currently have vacancies in our orthopaedic team at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough. If you are an experienced registered Nurse, registered ODP, a final year student due to qualify or a return to practice ODP and are looking to develop and further your career then we would love to hear from you!

We have 10 theatres which include 3 laminal flow orthopaedic theatres. We are looking for Orthopaedic scrub practitioners, for our trauma and elective theatres, doing a variety of trauma and orthopaedic procedures including Hip and Knee surgery, Upper and Lower limb surgery and spinal procedures.

The role will include scrubbing for the operations and working with the surgeons, ensuring they have all the necessary instruments and tools required for the procedure, circulating and team work to keep the peri operative journey running as smooth as possible, including completing all documentation as required.

You will be supported and developed within the role, within a caring and friendly team.

With a dedicated practice development team committed to personal and professional development and opportunities to undertake dual practice in two or more disciplines, along with rotations through all the specialtiesthere is boundless potential to develop and grow as a professional.

Main duties of the job

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To support the Theatre Manager in the establishing good working atmosphere and participate in effective/efficient use of staff, supplies and services.
  • To provide a high level of support to the perioperative team in the delivery of patient care, within the theatre area.
  • To participate as a skilled member of the theatre team.
  • To assist in effective communication channels between team members, medical staff, wards, and departments.
  • To participate in achieving the stated Quality Assurance and Risk Management objectives set by the organisation.
  • To ensure all equipment is regularly checked and maintained in a safe manner.
  • Participate in training programmes for junior staff and other disciplines seconded to the department

Job responsibilities

  • Newly Qualified Practitioners are provided with a 12 month bespoke preceptorship programme with 14 days protected study days designed to teach and develop our practitioners to the very highest standard.
