We are looking for an enthusiastic and highlymotivated Patient Flow Coordinator/Bed Manager tojoin our busy Clinical Site Team at St. Bartholomew'sHospital. You will support this team and siteoperations to ensure challenges are given responsiveattention team to effectively ensure the site patient flowis maintained, engaging with both our internal andexternal stakeholders as well as all other hospitals partof Barts Health.

This role is vital in the delivery of creating effectivepatient flow, operational performance, support toclinical colleagues and the site leadership teams toperform to a very high standard. We require someonewho is a team player, with excellent communicationskills and who visibly enjoys the challenges that thePatient Flow coordinator/Bed Manager role provides.These individual qualities will provide the foundation foryou to lead within speciality flow at one of the finesthospitals in London and make sure we are ready togive our patients the best care possible around theclock, 24 hours a day. St Bartholomew's Hospital hoststhe London Heart Attack Centre and is a tertiary cancerreferral centre for cancer for East London and NorthEast Essex. In return we will encourage you to developat all levels within this specialised healthcareprofessional role through bespoke appraisal.

Main duties of the job

Patient Flow Coordinators/Bed Managers will providesupport and creative placement of patients within safeclinical areas, with guidance from the Patient FlowManager or duty Clinical Site Manager. All of the Siteteam have to consider the global coordination of thehospital site and speciality patient flow, working withthe Head of Site Management to oversee 24/7 flow.The Patient Flow Coordinators/Bed Managers willrespond to enquiries over email, Bleep or via thetelephone, whilst using all our WeCare values todeliver a high standard of customer service.

Person Specification



  • Demonstrable clinical experience at Band 5 level (min)


  • Awareness or involvement in audit processes



  • Understanding of equality, inclusion and diversity
  • Awareness and understanding of the Caldecott Principles.


  • Relevant clinical course e.g. cardiac, oncology, thoracic or critical care



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to communicate verbally and an ability to be assertive with a wide variety of external and Internal stakeholders
  • Ability to lead service improvement projects
  • Experience using spreadsheet, access, word, and other internet packages.
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Ability to think strategically, problem solve under pressure and plan ahead
