This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of �2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

Liaison Psychiatry NUH Older Adults service, based at the Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital is offering a 22.5hr Part Time Substantive Contract, as a Band 6 Liaison Psychiatry Practitioner, for an organised, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who has excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to work and are committed to working with older adults.

Main duties of the job

The Liaison Psychiatry service for older adults seeks to deliver a comprehensive, integrated liaison psychiatry service for people over the age of 65 across QMC and Nottingham City Hospital. It provides a year round proactive supportive service to our acute colleagues to facilitate the best possible care to those presenting with mental health conditions such as dementia, acute confusion, delirium and depression.

A core requirement of our service is to provide training and education to our acute hospital colleagues and it is expected that the successful applicant will take an active role in this.

Person Specification

Further Training


  • Evidence of further training


  • ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Clinical supervision course



  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • IT skills

Contractual Requirements


  • To work shifts covering 7 days a week at 37.5 hours per week
  • A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.



  • Experience of working within an MDT
  • Recent experience with older adult mental health


  • Community Mental Health experience working with Older People with Mental Health problems
  • Recent experience of working within Liaison Psychiatry Services



  • Professional mental health nursing qualification
