We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Neuro-Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our band 7 rotations within the well-established and dynamic Neurosciences department at the Royal Free Hospital, London.

The 18-month rotations enable further skill development and expertise in the assessment and treatment of complex neurological conditions across the patient pathway, and leading teams, in critical care, acute rehabilitation, including stroke and neurology, and inpatient neurorehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

Our 46 bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) includes a cohort of patients with highly complex neurological presentations. An ICU OT competency-based programme has been developed and presented at conference, and ongoing quality improvement work focusing on areas such as the occupational therapy management of hypoxic brain injuries. Our acute stroke unit has consistently excellent SSNAP ratings, and we have a number of exciting service development projects being undertaking to increase rehabilitation intensity in line with the new stroke guidelines. Our acute neurology beds off exposure rare, long-term, chronic, and progressive neurological presentations. The well-regarded Neurological Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) provide specialist level 2 inpatient neurorehabilitation, based at Edgware Community Hospital with access to a therapy garden, kitchen, and specialist robotic upper limb equipment.

Therapy Services at the Royal Free are truly interdisciplinary with a strong emphasis on active learning, development, and staff wellness. You will be well supported by Clinical Lead Neurosciences Band 8 OTs across both sites and provided with opportunity for personal and service development. We also have regular in-service training programmes, a dedicated therapies education team and a dedicated therapies research & development team.
