An opportunity has arisen on our Children's Daycare unit for a motivated, committed and enthusiastic individual to join our team for a one year secondment.

The nurse-led Children's Daycare Unit is part of a versatile and dynamic service, providing high quality holistic care with an emphasis on working in partnership with the children and their families.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills, be adaptable and flexible in their working. They will be keen to learn and develop new skills and knowledge through the availability of a variety of training opportunities whilst facilitating the learning needs of others.

Staff are encouraged and given the opportunity to continue their professional development through attendance on relevant courses provided by both City and London Southbank universities.

The post holder will be expected to take a role in supporting the ward manager to develop services, manage the day to day running of the unit and be involved in the management of a team of staff.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of individualised family centred care to children and their families in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.

Person Specification



  • RSCN / RN Child with current registration
  • Preparation for mentorship course or equivalent
  • Intravenous accreditation
  • Evidence of continued professional development


  • Educated to degree level or working towards it
  • Leadership course / development programme2



  • Experience at band 5 within an acute paediatric setting


  • Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners



  • An understanding of audit and research-based nursing practice.
  • An understanding of resource management
