MSE has been successful in securing funding for a new elective endoscopy hub in the Pitsea CDC. With this centre being away from the busy acute sites, it will offer protected elective capacity, allowing for maximum productivity and an improved patient experience. The unit will be designed to meet JAG accreditation standards, offer brand new facilities and equipment and will be the largest endoscopy unit in Essex. This centre will provide most of the cancer, routine and surveillance activity for colonoscopy, gastroscopy and flexi sigmoidoscopy across the system. Whilst we await the new Pitsea CDC, funding has been agreed through the national programme to support a 2-room endoscopy mobile unit at Orsett Hospital, in south-west Essex and circa 15 minutes from the future Pitsea CDC.
