This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 District Nurse to join the Adult Community Nursing Team, working flexibly over a seven day period.

The evening and overnight District Nursing service covers the city of Salford at night, delivering care across the communities to people in their own homes. We are part of a dynamic, integrated health and Social multidisciplinary team delivering high quality care, advice, and support and monitoring to patients, their families and staff within the community settings. You will work under the direction and supervision of the District Nurse Lead to provide care to patients with complex and non-complex needs with the aim of promoting independence and self-management.

You should have excellent communication skills.

You'll be supported by an expert team in an environment where training and development opportunities are actively encouraged in order to meet the clinical needs of the role. We offer a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing your knowledge and skills where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

You will work under the direction of the team leader. You will have strong leadership and excellent clinical skills as you will be expected to manage and advise the team (qualified and unqualified) in the absence the team leader. You will be motivated to support staff development and to manage change positively within the team.

Communication and interpersonal skills are essential for the role as you will often be required to chair team safety huddles, attend multi professional meetings, discharge planning meetings etc. and to feedback to the team to ensure seamless patient care.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of patient care needs and development, devising, implementing and evaluating programmes of care, both for a specific group of patients and in supporting the care of all patients. As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will provide daily clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff in the delivery of evidence based practice. You will also coordinate and support to the night sit team who provide overnight care to end of life and ventilated patients in their own homes.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months. Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receivea full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
