THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 24 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join an award winning team to support Children and Young People in schools. The post will be working for NPT local Education Authority via a service level agreement. There are already a team of 2 registered OT's and an OT tech working in NPLEA. The post holder would be working with teaching staff as part of a respected therapy team and also work closely with the Core community CYP Occupational therapy team in SBUHB. Operationally and professionally managed via Paediatric Swansea Bay Occupational Therapy Team in Swansea Bay UHB alongside Specialist teaching service within NPTLEA. This post will support Neath port talbot schools.

The post will allow the successful applicant the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-agency team. You will provide specialist training, advice and strategies to support CYP access the curriculum. Majority of support is within mainstream schools.

Main duties of the job

The role will be responsible for the management and development of the service as well as maintaining a clinical caseload. A commitment to collaborative working with the Multi-Disciplinary agency is essential. We actively support the education of Occupational Therapy staff and students within our service.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and clinical skills, along withexperience of service development and quality improvement.

To manage a defined caseload within specialist area, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate hospital, community, patients' homes, schools, outpatient settings and maintaining associated records. To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.

To work in partnership with clients, carers and all stake holders including the multidisciplinary/ multi agency team to identify relevant goals.

To provide leadership and supervision for junior staff.

To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.

To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification)
  • Professional registration with HCPC
  • Recognised post-graduate traning e.g. Masters level study, or willingness to work towards
  • Fieldwork educator

  • Leadership / managment training
  • BAOT membership
