The Royal Surrey County NHS Foundation Trust and are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior IT Server Engineer.
The role calls for someone to be a highly specialist resource within IT and as such will have, or will develop, technical or specialist excellence across the range of technologies and services that fall under the responsibility of the infrastructure team.The role will often have opportunities to work on project work and the adoption of new technologies in line with business requirements. Main duties of the job
The Senior IT Server Engineer supports the IT Infrastructure Operations Manager who is responsible for the administration and optimisation of the organisation's IT data centre, network, client devices and associated components to achieve high performance and availability of a range of business applications. The Senior IT Server Engineers are responsible for ensuring the availability of selected client/server applications, networks, firewalls, and client devices, configuring all new implementations and developing processes and procedures for the ongoing management of the technology estate.
The IT team currently operates core-hours between 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, and the successful candidate will have a flexible attitude to be able to adjust to the operational needs of the department as and when required.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree level education, equivalent professional qualifications (e.g. CCNA, MCSE, MCP) or relevant experience at operating at this level
- Additional specialist knowledge acquired through post grad diploma or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Further Professional management certification (e.g. Citrix Professional, VMWare VCP, Extreme Networks, Checkpoint)
- ITIL or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential
- Experience of working in an environment supporting 2000+ users and 2000+ devices across both wired and wireless networks
- Supporting an environment with a data centre of circa 200+ Virtual servers and 30+ Physical
- Responsibility for the delivery of a key service within a technical environment
- Management and development of proactive infrastructure monitoring and reporting solutions
- Experience of highly complex technical and corporate IT Infrastructure in either/and networking, data centre, client devices or telephony
- Experience holding senior technical roles, preferably in large scale highly complex IT environments
