The Learning & Development Team are a busy team implementing and overseeing various programmes which includes the Trust wide Apprenticeship and Talent for Care programmes.

We work closely with our stakeholders across the Wigan borough and Greater Manchester district and within WWL to promote employment and development opportunities for our local communities and to develop our own workforce.

This 12 month, fixed term contract role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual seeking to progress their career in Learning & Development and Talent for Care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will implement the NHS Talent for Care Strategy, particularly around developing opportunities for people to start their career in the NHS. The role will also involve effectively promoting the benefits of apprenticeship opportunities across the Trust, attracting new apprenticeships, and supporting managers and staff to maximise the use of the apprenticeship levy effectively. The post holder will be required to work on Trust premises and Wigan and Leigh College on occasion to meet the role requirements.

Job responsibilities

As our Talent for Care Lead you will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, retention, and development of local talent within our Trust to ensure we continue to deliver high quality care to our patients. You will achieve this through working in collaboration with Wigan & Leigh College, HR, and leaders across the organisation to create employment opportunities for individuals within our local community.

WWL are an Anchor Institution organisation and working with our local partners including Wigan & Leigh College and Wigan Council we aim to improve the long-term health and social welfare of our communities.

Qualification

Essential

  • Degree Level or relevant experience


Desirable

  • Learning & Development/Teaching qualification
  • Previous experience of designing and developing employment pathways


Skills

Essential

  • Excellent time management and organisation skills and the ability to co-ordinate projects effectively
  • Possesses strong coaching/mentoring capability
  • Ability to work independently to manage own workload
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal awareness and skills
  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Strong facilitation/presentation skills recognising when adapting to individual needs is required
  • Proven experience of using Microsoft office Programmes and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written format


Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working within an NHS/health and social care organisation
  • Has extensive project management experience
  • Experience of managing apprenticeships and familiar with the apprenticeship levy
  • Experience of supporting colleagues with their personal/professional development


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of the Talent for Care and Widening Participation agenda
  • Knowledge of the apprenticeship levy and available apprenticeships within an NHS organisation
