An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Psychotherapist to join our Woman and Children's service as Head of Counselling Service/Psychotherapist at Frimley Health NHS Trust.

The role requires you to coordinate and manage the systematic provision of a high quality and effective Counselling Service to patients and relatives for Women and Children's Services, both as inpatients and outpatients at Wexham Park and Frimley Park Hospital. The majority of clients referred to our service have experienced psychological, physical trauma, complex grief, multiple loss and complications related to pregnancy.

Main duties of the job

You would be required to provide EMDR therapy, specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to relevant health-care professionals as well as providing clinical supervision and specialist psychological De-briefing sessions to staff served by service.

Job responsibilities

You will work autonomously within the Trust, and must possess BACP, UKCP, or equivalent professional registration as you will be responsible for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the team.

Person Specification



  • Psychotherapist
  • BACP or UKCP Accreditation Status


  • NHS experience
  • Planning and undertaking of research and service audit projects
  • Group work experience
  • Ability to plan and teach the theory of trauma, loss, bereavement, and disability to health care professionals



  • EMDR trained



  • Experience in Trauma and Complex grief



  • Trained in Clinical Supervision
