Main duties of the job

This dynamic team attends all adult, paediatric and obstetric emergency calls, providing immediate support to patients and clinical teams. The team receives referrals for deteriorating patients or those at risk from a variety of sources, and reviews all discharges from the intensive care unit. As well as providing hands-on clinical care, the team work with the wider multi-disciplinary team, with a focus on advanced care planning.

Along with this the team is responsible for delivering education to Trust staff on all aspects of deteriorating patient care, from initial assessment to advanced resuscitation. Through collaboration with clinicians and other colleagues, we strive to deliver and promote patient safety.

The role also involves quality improvement and engaging in developments related to identifying and responding to deteriorating patients, such as using the streams app to respond to patients who develop acute kidney injury.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the Trust values, have proven experience of working with acutely unwell patients and have the necessary attitude and communication skills to work well in challenging situations. Flexibility, the ability to reflect and resilience are also desirable qualities.

Applicants who do not display good understanding of the role are very unlikely to be shortlisted.

Informal visits or telephone conversations pre-interview are therefore strongly encouraged.
