This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with a dynamic and fast moving clinical team who manage the admission requests into our hospital beds. Exceptional organisational skills will be needed as well as the ability to work across a wide group of teams and other professional's. The Clinical team will be relying upon you to organise their workload and ensure that the service operates in the most efficient and productive ways possible.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to manage the administration role and functions within a gatekeeping team. This is a multi-disciplinary and age Independent service, working alongside other urgent care services to look at support which can be provided as an alternative to an in-patient admission, ensuring the least restriction options have been chosen. The gatekeeping administration role will involve taking gatekeeping requests, gathering information for the clinicians who will be assessing patients with complex and challenging mental health needs that other urgent care, acute and community services have identified as potentially requiring an in-patient admission.

Rostering the team rota and ensuring there is compliance with training, appraisal and supervision across the team.

updating the clinical activity into reports.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C)
  • QCF Business Administration Level 3
  • QCF Customer Service Level 3
  • ILM Leadership and Management Level 3 / CMI Management and Leadership Level 5


Knowledge

Essential

  • Articulate with excellent communication / customer care skills both written and verbal demonstrating sympathy and compassion
  • Advanced keyboard / IT skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own and other's workload and use own initiative
  • Ability to work autonomously , deal with queries independently and escalate where appropriate
  • Understanding of working in a supervisory role
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to multitask
  • Excellent time management skills ability to prioritise conflicting demands in order to meet deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of reception / office procedures
  • Ability to establish and maintain relevant recording and information systems


Experience

Essential

  • Competent working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Experience of working in a busy office / customer care environment
  • Experience of leading an Admin Team and delegating work
