Main duties of the job
HEAD OF WORKFORCE AND WORKFORCE PLANNING (12-MONTH SECONDMENT OR FIXED-TERM CONTRACT)
We are looking to recruit a workforce planning and systems professional who has the leadership skills to inspire the organisation to further embed workforce planning, systems and development into all of our services and link to the wider system.
This post is to cover maternity leave and would be suitable as a secondment or a fixed-term contract of a year. The ideal start date will be September 2024
The organisation has had a forensic focus on workforce and well-developed workforce planning and development into our planning cycle which the postholder would be expected to further embed and develop.
The post holder would also be expected to fully engage the wider systems planning approach and monitoring.
Internally we have a good track record in fully utilising electronic rostering, staff records and a virtual learning platform, and this role will be pivotal in continuing to drive the service and the team forward, ensuring these systems work to support the organisation in assuring our workforce needs.

Job responsibilities
You will lead all aspects of workforce planning and reporting activity within the organisation linked to the wider planning team and lead the workforce business intelligence function for the Trust.
You will be responsible for implementing the Trust workforce deployment strategy through the development of the systems with a particular focus on managing and leading the use of and the contracts for:
Rostering system Job planning system Electronic staff Records System Virtual Learning Environment
You will actively support the Trust by developing responsive workforce system solutions and leading projects to influence workforce and service redesign.
You will be a core member of the Training, Development and Workforce management team
ABOUT THE TEAM
You will be the strategic lead for all aspects of workforce planning and development across the organisation and across all professional groups. You will be the key link to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight systems workforce planning team ensuring that UHS is fully engaged and involved in all of the wider planning of workforce requirements and monitoring. You will support the Workforce Systems Manager to lead the varied activities of the internal integrated workforce systems team including reporting, systems development, rostering and job planning. The team is made up of a variety of systems analysts, systems facilitators, systems administrators and a helpdesk team who all ensure the Trust has the appropriate workforce systems support to deploy and manage our staffing resource effectively.

Essential
- Educated to masters level or relevant equivalent experience
- Specialist workforce planning accreditation or equivalent experience
- Organisational Development qualification or relevant current experience.
- Postgraduate qualification in change management or equivalent experience of managing change within a complex environment
- An accredited practitioner in relevant psychometric and change instruments.
- Evidence of recent CPD at Senior Level
