A unique opportunity for a registered paediatric nurse to join the research team at UHB. The post holder will have the opportunity to work on paediatric, neonatal, obstetric and gynaecology research trials. These include commercial investigational products and observational non-intervention trials. The post holder will be responsible for their own case load of clinical trials and has the opportunity to work within a variety of specialities including Neuromuscular, Infectious Diseases, Immunology, Twin pregnancies, Smoking Cessation and more.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be involved in research both within paediatric, neonatal, maternity and gynaecology specialities and will be expected to recruit and follow up patients, providing high quality research data. They will need to be able to work both in a team but also independently. The post holder will need to work closely with the Principal investigators and R& D in the set up and delivery of research studies both academic and commercial. You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities, assessing and contributing to the care pathways for patients. This will involve the daily screening, recruitment, blood sampling, IMP management, and monitoring of trial patients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Children's Nurse on the NMC register


Experience

Essential

  • Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
  • Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
  • Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
  • Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
  • Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
  • Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
  • Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
