Parklands Hospital is in Basingstoke & is home to inpatient Older Persons & Adult Mental Health Services with an AHP team embedded across the site. The hospital also provides both Ministry of Defence & National Health Services comprising of acute admission wards & a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Basingstoke has excellent transport links, & we offer free parking on site to all staff.

Our AHP led team consists of Occupational Therapists, technical instructors, therapy assistants, & with the support of our AHP Therapy Manager provide a hospital wide service. This will enable us to provide an outstanding service to our populations & support those requiring admission to our inpatient services to return to being an active member of their local community.

You will be responsible for developing physiotherapy services alongside the Therapy Manager, realising the art of the possible for physiotherapy within mental health services. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary therapy team to deliver integrated AHP services to our inpatients & work collaboratively on patient focused discharge planning. Main duties of the job

*To provide specialist Physiotherapy skills to the inpatient mental health therapy team.

*To assess and treat own caseload, which may include complex presentations and to maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner.

*To assist senior staff in the education and supervision of junior colleagues, assistants and students. To include educating the MDT on the role of Physiotherapy in Mental Health.

*To assist senior staff in daily management of the team and provision of therapy service, deputising for the team leader in their absence.

*To assist senior staff in development and maintenance of an efficient and effective service

*To contribute to the inter-disciplinary working within the inpatient mental health therapy team and Locality by teaching, learning & practicing inter-disciplinary skills & techniques as defined by an agreed competency framework or training scheme.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.

Person Specification



  • - HCPC registered physiotherapist
  • - Relevant post registration experience or transferable skills and experience.


  • - Post registration qualification or University Degree



  • - Evidence of skills across a broad range of clinical areas at band 5 level including, but not limited to, orthopaedics, neurology and rehabilitation
  • - Evidence of attendance at appropriate study days, short courses or evidence of undertaking self-study
  • - Able to demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development
  • - Experience of supervising assistants or students
  • - Experience of inter-disciplinary working approach


  • - Experience of working within elderly rehabilitation and physical health
  • - Experience of working in mental health services, adult social care and NHS services
