My job makes better lives by promoting health and independence for people who use our services and their carers/support staff by delivering high quality psychology assessments, formulation, and interventions providing consultation, supervision, and guidance to band 7, trainee, assistant psychologists and others as required. The job will be within our Learning Disabilities Directorate, working in the FASD team.

Main duties of the job

To undertake, coordinate and complete FASD assessments, considering wider neurodevelopmental outcomes including ASD and ADHD.

Analyze assessment results and complete reports for individuals seen.

To assess, plan, and evaluate psychological needs of people using services.

To mentor, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students.

Promoting a psychological perspective both within teams and sharing with colleagues.

Work collaboratively with team and Managers to develop and deliver effective services.

The postholder will be expected to work flexibly within the service.

To lead on complex and challenging cases and develop expertise within FASD.

Participating in the recruitment and selection of staff where appropriate.

Leading on specific service development projects.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The FASD practitioner will be the primary clinician working alongside the service lead to assess children aged 6+ through to adults who have been exposed to prenatal alcohol with a view to diagnosing and developing management guidance. In particular:

To lead assessments including photographic analysis, wider neurodevelopmental assessments including ASD structured questionnaire, ADHD screening tool and various psychometric measures.

To coordinate the feedback and incorporate summary results of cognitive and communication assessment into the FASD report.

To complete interim summary report within 2 weeks and full detailed reports within 3 months of the final assessment.

To participate in the maintenance and development of the FASD clinic database.
