We require an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated dietitian to join our friendly and innovative Paediatric Dietetic Team, to provide the specialist dietetic input the the Complications related to Excess Weight (CEW) service. You will be part of a team of 6 Paediatric Dietitians who cover a variety of other specialties including inpatients, outpatients, allergy, diabetes, gastroenterology and home enteral nutrition. We would welcome an informal conversation with you to discuss your areas of interest and would also consider flexible working opportunities/ job share. You will contribute to the wider integrated acute and community Dietetic Service for the population of Dartford, Gravesham & Swanley and the Dietetic Outpatient service for Bexley residents.

Within your clinical role you will work in different settings and work closely with the multidisciplinary paediatric teams across primary, secondary and tertiary care, so excellent communication skills are essential. You will already have clinical paediatric experience and will be able to take on the clinical lead for the dietetic element of the CEW service. You will also be involved in the review and development of departmental and organisational guidelines and provide training for the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist Paediatric Dietetic service as part of the Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) clinics. This role is part of the CEW MDT, as defined by NHSE.

To act as a source of expertise and to provide specialised nutrition and dietetic care to help with the management of children with severe obesity and the related complications. To be an integral part of the CEW multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification



  • Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics, Post-graduate diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Registered Dietitian with HCPC
  • 1st and 2nd Modules of qualification in Paediatrics
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate clinical education
  • Trained in facilitated learning for under-graduate practice placements


  • BDA membership
  • Member of BDA Paediatric Group and the BDA Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Sub-Group
  • 3rd and 4th Modules of qualification in Paediatrics
