South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Calderdale Older People Community Mental Health Teambased at the Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our patients receive the care that they need and will be an integral role within the Calderdale Older People Community Team.

You will be employed under the Consultant Terms and Conditions with a salary within this payscale. In addition, our Trust grants an additional two days annual leave to Consultants with 7 years or more NHS experience at Consultant grade.

Person Specification

Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience


  • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
  • Able to provide clinical leadership to a multi-professional team and liaise with a wide variety of agencies.


  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.



  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.


  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych.
  • Additional clinical qualifications.



  • Holds and will use valid UK driving licence.



  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register for older adult psychiatry OR within six months of gaining CCT.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within three months of appointment.


  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.

Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning


  • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Able to work in and lead team.
  • Able to lead Case-Based Discussion Groups.
  • Participated in continuous professional development.
  • Participated in research or service evaluation.
  • Able to use and appraise clinical evidence.
  • Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes.


  • Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
  • Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients.
  • Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
  • Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
