Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity to join our established chaplaincy team at QA Hospital to develop and achieve this vision. You will be working in a diverse setting, and will be required to respond to the spiritual, religious, cultural and pastoral needs of our patients, visitors, volunteers, and staff. Job description

Job responsibilities

Working within Patient Experience Department, we are looking for a committed and passionate individual who has proven experience in a healthcare setting, good communication skills and can work in a sensitive environment. Chaplaincy provides a 24 hour service so the successful candidate will be required to join the on-call rota in addition to their contractual hours, for which further payment will be made. The chaplaincy team is an active and visible presence on our wards which ensures that all patients and staff have an opportunity to request and access chaplaincy support. We have a team of chaplaincy volunteers the chaplaincy team are required to supervise and support.

Person Specification



  • To have degree level Ordination training or faith community equivalent
  • To be licensed by the relevant faith community


  • Counselling or coaching qualification or equivalent training.



  • o have experience of working in a healthcare environment
  • Advanced understanding of the ethical issues relating to health care.
  • Experience of collaborative team working
  • Knowledge and understanding of national policies and procedures relevant to the provision of a Chaplaincy Service / Bereavement Care.
  • To have highly developed specialist knowledge of spiritual care issues
