Are you a registered professional with a passion for Adult Mental Health Nursing? We are welcoming applications for the post of Head of Nursing (Band 8b) within our Adult Mental Health Community Services team, supporting us with our Trust Strategy for delivering high-quality care consistently across our services.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an inspiring nurse leader with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving to drive development within our Mental Health Services. You'll work alongside a leadership team of like-minded individuals and support the development and implementation of systems, structures, and processes to promote high-quality clinical services that make a real difference.

Main duties of the job

We're looking for someone who is confident in their clinical knowledge to play an instrumental role in policy and practice development, including risk assessments, audit and ligature. You'll support the preparation for CQC and other external inspections and work collaboratively with the senior leadership and management team to ensure the approach to risk management is in line with the Trust's Risk Management Strategy.

Person Specification



  • Masters level or equivalent experience
  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Knowledge and Skills


  • Excellent Clinical and Clinical Leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences, verbally and in written reports
  • Innovative thinker with the ability to cut through barriers to change
  • Proven track record of performance management
  • Flexibility - adapts to ensure achievement of objectives within changing environment



  • Substantial Experience of managing people
  • Experience of managing change and associated behaviours
  • Experience of managing resources including financial resources
  • Experience of developing policies and procedures
