The post holder will contribute to the delivery of future Vision for Maternity and Neonatal care through ensuring high performing multi-professional teams who deliver family centred care. They will ensure women, babies and families are cared for within the most appropriate pathways and by the professionals who best meet their needs.

The post holder will build strong leadership within learning organisations and a culture of continuous learning, best practice and innovation.

They will put the family at the centre of decisions so that all women, babies and their families get the highest quality of care which meets their needs, and will strengthen the voice of service users making it central to quality and delivery, building innovative practice through co-production.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide clinical governance advice to all staff, promote change and a culture of safe, personalised care among health care professionals and the wider maternity and neonatal teams.

They will act as the lead specialist and as a conduit to share learning and best practice from local investigations or initiatives across Children and Families Care Group, sharing best practice national and internationally using research and evidence based practice.

The post holder will be a registered nurse/midwife and utilise the opportunity to understand how safety improvement work is being measured and taken forward in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB), and share learning across Wales.

They will understand how data is used at local levels working collaboratively with digital support teams within CTMUHB, and develop strong working relationships with all those leading related safety improvement related activity within the UHB.

Qualifications & experience

Essential

  • NMC registrant
  • Professional knowledge to Master's Degree level or equivalent skills, experience, knowledge and training.
  • Completed/previously undertaken improvement/governance/risk management training.
  • Experience of successfully implementing projects requiring diagnostic tools e.g. Audit.
  • Recent clinical experience in chosen speciality at a level sufficient to enable use of diagnostic framework to identify service gaps.


Desirable

  • Ability to speak Welsh,
  • Improvement certification (Improvement in Practice, IHI, Lean etc.)


Experience

Essential

  • Recent clinical experience in chosen speciality at a level sufficient to enable use of diagnostic framework to identify service gaps.
