A vacancy has arisen within the Bart's Health NHS Trust, Estates & Facilities Directorate for an experienced Maintenance Manager with Mechanical Bias to join the St Bartholomew's Hospital team.

Reporting directly to the Head of Estates, the basic working week is 37.5 hours, Monday-Friday 08:30 to 16:30. You must, however, have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours including overtime and call outs as workload demands, for which additional payment is made. The position is also eligible for the NHS pension scheme along with access to a wide range of staff benefits, and in addition to public bank holidays annual leave of 27 days on appointment rising to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years.

You must possess a relevant formal mechanical qualification and be conversant with mechanical regulations. Attention to detail is a must, so we are looking for someone who will take pride in the highest standards of work. You must possess good literacy skills and the ability to work with autonomy and work as part of the wider maintenance management team to achieve shared goals. Applicants must have served an Engineering apprenticeship (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services etc.) and achieved an HNC/HND Qualification

Main duties of the job

Duties shall cover a range of building mechanical work including the management of planned and breakdown maintenance, servicing, specialist testing, fault finding and repair of equipment and installation work

Key Responsibilities of the post will include undertaking day to day operational management of a range of repairs and core mechanical and general engineering duties and associated works for the Hospital. Providing assurance that engineering services and equipment at the hospital are compliance to current HTM's whilst observing all relevant Health and Safety guidelines and Regulations

Previous experience in electrical / mechanical Installation / maintenance / engineering is essential, preferably in a Healthcare / Hospital maintenance environment. Please refer to the Job Description & Person Specification for details

  • Ability to provide expert advice to service end users, on a wide range of Estates management issues.
  • Computer literate. Ability to maximise the use of allocated resources in the achievement of set objectives.
