Obstetric Ultrasound Modality Lead - Band 8a (18.75 hours a week)

GHNHSFT has an exciting opportunity for a part-time 0.5wte Obstetric Ultrasound Modality Lead. The post-holder will be a member of the management team and will have clinical knowledge and experience in obstetric Ultrasound, providing support and advice, as well as working collaboratively with the NOUS Modality Lead and the Women & Children's division to provide a safe and effective service.

The post-holder will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Obstetric Ultrasound service, including activity, adherence and compliance with the national maternity screening programme and governance within the obstetric Ultrasound service.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to and actively pursue delivery of the objectives of the Obstetric Ultrasound service, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of services within available resources.

Responsible for monitoring and ensuring that all maternity national screening targets are met through delivery of the obstetric ultrasound service.

Responsible for the ongoing analysis of the Obstetric Ultrasound service.

Work in conjunction with the Radiology management team and the Womens and Childrens division to plan and implement an acceptable compliant Obstetric Ultrasound Service, whilst being sensitive to staff expectations and financial constraints.

Responsible for managing and monitoring Sonographic annual leave, time in lieu, sickness absence and pay in collaboration with the Ultrasound modality lead.

Able to conduct a range of examinations within the clinical speciality upon a range of patient types, both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards.

Available as a source of advice and professional leadership and be able to cope with multiple demands during the day.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diagnostic Radiology Degree or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office products


Desirable

  • Appropriate Postgraduate qualification (MSc or equivalent in Obstetric Ultrasound)


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive of using computerised patient systems NBSS/PACS/CRIS
  • Evidence of continuous professional development


Desirable

  • Experience managing an obstetric ultrasound department


Knowledge, skills & abilities

Essential

  • Ability to prioritise appropriately and work to deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure with an unpredictable workload
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills - verbal, non-verbal and written, when interacting with other team members, patients, other professionals and members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  • Understanding of radiology quality and governance
  • Understanding of radiological education and advance practice
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of own level of responsibility, including when working with complexity, risk, uncertainty and incomplete information.


Desirable

  • Take a lead role in weekly MDT meetings, presenting screening cases and aiding decision making in further management of patient care.
