EPUT is looking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor who will provide consistent, high quality Medical input support to the Tendring Specialist CMHT team based at Reunion House, Clacton-on-Sea. Tendering Specialist CMHT provides community mental services for patient referred to the secondary mental health by GP surgeries within the Neighbourhood teams in Clacton and Harwich. The team serves an adult population of around 78000.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have shared responsibility for the clinical care of those patients referred to the team and will be expected to work closely with the consultant and team manager to ensure the provision of an effective service.

You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will also need to provide evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at time of application and likelihood of achieving CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Carry Out-patient Clinic reviews, under the patch consultant.

Attend MDT meeting twice weekly

Attend Allocations meeting as required

Carry out Home visits

Attend to urgent clinical issues for patients

Administrative work related to these activities

Supervise and support Trainee Doctors if appropriate

Work closely with primary care nurses (PCN workers)

Work with Multidisciplinary team

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification


Desirable

  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment. and Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983.


Skills

Essential

  • Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
  • Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job and specialty
  • Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job

  • Experience of working within Adult Psychiatry
