This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the provision of psychology services within Specialist Palliative Care Services and Head and Neck Cancer Services across Sunderland and South Tyneside. You will form part of a team of psychologists and psychological practitioners to continue to develop and embed psychology services for patients and relatives accessing specialist palliative care services.
You will also work both within palliative care services and into the Head and Neck Cancer MDT delivering both direct patient and relative psychological assessment and intervention, consultation and training and supervision. Psychology is a highly valued role within palliative care services, and you will be supported to continue to develop and grow the service.
You will be supported by a larger Clinical Health Psychology Service department and have access to CPD and specialist clinical supervision and leadership support.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have previous experience of working in physical health settings, or cancer and palliative care services, working with MDTs providing both direct and indirect psychological care.
The post holder will be skilled in delivering supervision and consultation to both psychologists/ psychological practitioners and other professionals. The post holder will work in a variety of clinic settings including inpatients, outpatients and in the community. We have two posts available and flexible working patterns can be arranged.

- The post holder will support the provision and delivery of high quality clinical psychology services within Specialist Palliative Care and Head and Neck Cancer Services.
- The post holder will provide psychological advice, consultation, training and supervision to non-psychological colleagues working within Specialist Palliative Care Services Head and Neck Cancer Services.
- The post holder will attend MDTs and provide specialist advice and expertise to other professional staff groups on psychological aspects of care.

- An upper second class honours degree or higher in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership with British Psychological Society (BPS)
- Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology accredited by HCPC (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 as accredited by the BPS)
- HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist

- Additional training in relevant areas e.g. CBT, CFT, ACT, EMDR

- Experience in applying clinical/counselling psychology within the NHS.
