Rainbow centre is a lively forward-thinking unit providing a service to a diverse and multi-cultural area of east London. Rainbow Centre consists of 18 acute beds caring for children aged between 0-16 years with acute nursing and medical needs. We have an Outpatient department and a Day care unit.

The staff are renowned for their friendliness and can-do attitude and always extend a warm welcome to new members and visitors to the unit.We offer a robust Band 6 development programme and an onsite internal development programme. We work closely with our Higher Education partners and support nurses to reach their full potential

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of individualised family-centred care to children and their families in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team. Ensure that evidence-based practice is always performed, taking responsibility for updating own knowledge and skill in line with Trust policies and procedures and NMC Code.

Qualifications

Essential

  • RSCN / RN Child with current registration.
  • Preparation for mentorship course or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.


Desirable

  • Educated to degree level or working towards it.
  • Leadership course/ development program.


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience at band 5 within an acute paediatric setting with surgical experience.
  • Experience with delivering care to orthopaedic patients.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience in Safeguarding Children.


Desirable

  • Knowledge of current and emerging NHS strategy and policy.


Skills

Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills with people on complex matters/issues.
