The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe with a national and international reputation for high quality patient care, research, development and education. As physiotherapists we are key members of a multidisciplinary team geared to the rehabilitation of patients undergoing surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy in both in and outpatient settings. Oncology provides a challenging environment for developing a number of skills including clinical reasoning, communication and multi-professional working. Ongoing professional training and development is encouraged and supported.
Band 6 Physiotherapist, 22.5 hours a week, Sutton based permanent.
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced physiotherapist to join the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will have the opportunity to work with people living with a range of cancer types including haemato-oncology providing rehabilitation across rotations including rehabilitation, haematology, Teenage and Young Adults, and complex rehabilitation. We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist with a special interest in the field of oncology to work as a part a multi-disciplinary team. You will be supported by senior colleagues, with regular supervision and in-service training.
Main duties of the job
The Band 6 Physiotherapist is an active member of a team that provides a high quality evidence based physiotherapy service for the patient with cancer.
The post holder will rotate through a number of specialist units providing high quality physiotherapy care to both in and out patients

- Provide a holistic, advanced, physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with a cancer diagnosis. These patients may present with complex physical, emotional and psychological needs as a result of their cancer diagnosis and its treatment with surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
- Provide a physiotherapeutic diagnosis, to develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes and make appropriate referrals to other disciplines.
- Hold responsibility for a defined clinical area and own caseload, working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available, clinical work is not routinely evaluated by senior staff. Supervision with a designated physiotherapist takes the form of formal training, reflective practice and clinical reasoning.
- Be a source of knowledge and expertise for patients, relatives and colleagues of all disciplines within the Trust. The post holder works closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist input to a planned programme of co-ordinated care including appropriate and timely discharge.
- The post holder has a responsibility to share best practice and answer or direct queries from health care professionals, patients and carers nationally.

Education/Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma/degree level qualification in physiotherapy
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or have alternative indemnity arrangements
- HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
- Evidence of on-going personal/professional development through maintenance of CPD portfolio
Experience
Essential
- Significant NHS experience
- Demonstrable knowledge in core physiotherapy skills
- Rotational experience in respiratory, neurology, orthopaedics and musculo-skeletal conditions
- Knowledge/Experience in the treatment of patients with cancer
- Relevant teaching/supervision experience
