We are currently on a journey involving major cultural transformation, and we have great ambition and intent to create the best and safest place to work, where our people thrive through better and healthier lives made possible by fulfilling work in an inclusive environment.

We are seeking an exceptional and progressive-thinking, people-centred leader with a breadth of HR, OD and EDI expertise to drive the people priorities and delivery at Heartlands, impacting positively for staff and the communities we serve. The Associate Director of People (ADP) is a core member of the Hospital Executive Leadership Team and integral to shaping local strategies to meet people and service needs and will share accountability with the Hospital Board for ensuring a values-led, inclusive and psychologically safe culture.

As ADP you will provide strategically-minded and delivery-focused expertise on People priorities to the Hospital Exec. Director to enable an inclusive and highly engaged workplace. You will anticipate and get ahead of people-related challenges and opportunities, shaping and delivering strategies and practices. The role leads the development and implementation of People improvements for the hospital, ensuring that we attract, retain, develop and place the wellbeing of our people at the core of hospital strategy. Working in collaboration with the Group the ADP will be responsible for workforce planning and effective workforce redesign appropriate to local models of care.

Main duties of the job

With other members of the Hospital Executive Leadership Team, you will take accountability and responsibility for decisions made on people matters. The post holder will enable local resolution of all medical and non-medical employee relations' issues and ensure provision of exemplary, pro-active and business focused local people services.

You will bring about candour and openness on difficult issues, in the pursuit of a collective understanding and action. For example, diversity and inclusion and speaking up. You will work closely with other Hospital ADP's and Hospital leaders to introduce new, flexible roles and ways of working, putting workforce redesign and people at the heart of service transformation.

The role encompasses both delivery and oversight, and addresses both short-term impact and long-term planning. To be successful, you will be agile and able to manage a high volume of downward, upward, and outward demand. You will be able to act on your own initiative with little direction to land key pieces of work and will have the skills to identify issues and act quickly to find solutions. You will be as comfortable doing as you are directing, moving between rolling sleeves up and getting stuck into a task to forward planning high level strategy.

You will live and breathe our values of being kind, connected and bold, and be inclusive, fair and compassionate.

A remote assessment will take place W/c 22nd July and in person interviews will take place on 30th July.
