An exciting opportunity has arisen for an adult nurse to join our new Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at Lincoln hospital .

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our Frailty SDEC team.

The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining their own competency using the principles of nursing practice to deliver evidence based care.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a caring, motivated and enthusiastic individual. As the Registered Nurse you will play a pivotal role in the Frailty SDEC unit to help us to develop a proactive dynamic unit to delivery same day emergency care to frail older adults

The successful candidate needs to be flexible and able to work autonomously but also should be able to work effectively within a small team. You will support the day to day running of the unit ensuring patients are supported and put central to all we do.

This will be a 7 day a week service with eventual planned opening between 08:00 - 20:00
  • Take responsibility for the assessing, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care
  • Support colleagues in care provision
  • To work with the professional scope of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct
  • Co-ordinates and negotiates with the MDT
  • Demonstrate ability to co-ordinate unit and maintain 'patient flow'

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse level 1


Desirable

  • Evidence of post qualification education / training


Previous Experience

Essential

  • Able to manage and prioritise own workload in a dynamic setting
  • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting


Desirable

  • Able to work in conjunction with MDT
  • Experience in Frailty
  • One year post registration experience in urgent and emergency care


Evidence of particular knowledge, skills, aptitudes

Essential

  • Awareness and knowledge of the dignity in care agenda
  • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework


Desirable

  • Cannulation
  • Venepucture
  • ECG recording competence
  • Male Catheterisation


Specific Requirements

Essential

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • IT skills
  • Able to travel to work on other hospital sites when required
  • Safeguarding awareness
